When the City of Wichita launced Transforming Wichita last year, it was defined as a journey to fundamentally change the way this organization measures, reports and performs the every day work of delivering services to the citizens of Wichita. Through Transformation Wichita, the City's goal is to achieve outstanding results, and measure and report those results to show progress and recognize outstanding performance. It is also important to identify those areas that need to improve. This survey, and what was learned from it, will play an important role for the City of Wichita to do just that. Like other businesses, this organization wants to see what the paying customers think about this city's services. Survey results will be treated seriously as some of the most credible citizen testimony available in recent years. Nevertheless, final decisions of City matters rest with the Wichita City Council.
The survey was conducted by National Research Center, a national research firm. They are endorsed by ICMA - the International City Manager's Association - and they conduct similar surveys in over 400 other cities across the United States. This makes measurements received more meaningful.
