Advice for the February Change in Television Format

A video message by Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer regarding the upcoming digital television conversion is now playing on City7, the City of Wichita’s government channel.

Produced in partnership with Cox Communication, the video advises consumers on their three major options as the February conversion from analog to digital television approaches.

“If you receive your TV broadcasts through an antenna, you need to do one of three things to prepare,” the Mayor advises. “First, you can purchase a digital-to-analog converter box for every analog television in your home. Second, you can buy a digital television with a built-in digital tuner. Or third, you can subscribe to a service like cable or satellite TV.  These providers will get you the right signal so you won’t need a new TV or a converter box to view your favorite programs.”

Viewers are also advised to visit the City of Wichita’s website at wichita.gov and click on the link to dtv.gov. The DTV link provides extensive additional information about the digital conversion. The link can be found in the body of the Mayor’s Digital Conversion Message.

NOTE TO LOCAL TV MEDIA: A clean version of the Mayor’s spot is available on Beta or DVD. Please contact the Communications Team to secure a copy.
