141,444 Passengers Traveled Through the Airport in August
Passenger traffic at Mid-Continent Airport set a new August record of 141,444 passengers, an increase of 17.52%, or 21,082 passengers, compared to August 2006.
The August record marks the 11th consecutive month that passenger traffic has increased at Mid-Continent. For the year, passenger traffic is up 8.60%. According to the DOT’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics, U.S. passenger traffic is up 2.5% through June 2007.
“More passengers are finding value in using Mid-Continent Airport,” said Valerie Wise, Air Service and Business Development Manager. When Frontier Airlines starts service on October 1, the low fares it will bring to Denver and the west will stimulate the market even more.”
“We appreciate the support of Mid-Continent Airport,” said Charlie Fletcher, Wichita Airport Advisory Board Chairman. “ Keeping travel dollars in Kansas is beneficial to all of us as those dollars are necessary for airport improvements and enhanced air service.”
