May 2007 set a new high for any May on record at Mid-Continent Airport with 142,805 total passengers, an increase of 7.34% over May 2006. The old record was 140,399 set in May 2004. Passenger traffic has been up for seven consecutive months at Mid-Continent. For the year, passenger traffic is up 5.26%.
“The new May record blew through the 2004 record by over 2,400 passengers. You may remember that 2004 was a record year for air travel at Mid-Continent Airport. With the additional non-stop destinations and competitive fares, we may be looking at a record year in 2007,” commented Valerie Wise, Air Service Manager.
Allegiant Air began non-stop service to Orlando-Sanford on May 22. They will add evening departures to Las Vegas starting June 14. The evening departures will operate on Thursdays and Sundays only, and will depart Wichita at 10:20 p.m., arriving in Las Vegas at 11:00 p.m. The flight leaves Vegas at 5:40 p.m. and arrives in Wichita at 9:40 p.m. The service will run through August 5.
ExpressJet d/b/a Delta Connection will begin non-stop to LAX on July 1 at very affordable fares. United Express will also begin non-stop to LAX on September 5.
