During this Thanksgiving holiday, City Channel 7 will become the “Wichita Welcome Channel.” This program debuts when visitors to Wichita are coming home to see their family. The hope is to inspire both visitors and residents to do something fun and exciting this holiday season right here in Wichita.
This program is a partnership effort between the City of Wichita, Wichita Convention & Visitors Bureau and First Generation Video. It will become a new feature on Channel 7 and will change monthly. During the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, citizens and visitors will have many opportunities to see it. It will air at half hour of every hour during the weekend (such as at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and so on). However, it will not pre-empt replays of the City Council meeting or County Commission meetings, that will be aired at their usual times.
The “Wichita Welcome Channel” takes viewers on a visual tour through Wichita highlights such as attractions, sports, shopping, music, arts, dining, events and more. More things will be added and changed with each new month. At the end of the program, a calendar of events will be updated weekly to reflect new events added, and take off events that have already happened. The program length is 30 minutes.
The Wichita Convention & Visitors Bureau and City of Wichita have been working cooperatively on this program. The program has two audiences: Wichita citizens on City Channel 7 and visitors staying in area hotels and with family. This program will help Wichita citizens be more educated on all entertainment opportunities. Additional benefits include increased tourism and visitor numbers and extended hotel stays to visit area attractions.
