Greenwich Road from 13th Street to 27th Street North will be reconstructed in 2006, to replace the two-lane asphalt mat street with four lanes, including curbs and storm sewers, with accel-decel lanes and turn bays at several points.
The project is scheduled to begin Jan. 9 2006 and be completed October 28, 2006. Greenwich will be closed to through traffic between 13th and 21st Street for five months (March 1 through July). Because the project affects traffic flow on a major street, contractor Cornejo & Sons will be allowed to work six days a week, generally between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
A public information meeting about the project will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church & School, 600 N. Greenwich Road, 6 p.m. Thursday, January 5. The project will be done in four phases:
-
Phase 1 will consist of waterline construction on the west side of Greenwich Road. Two-way traffic will be maintained, with intermittent flagging of traffic.
-
Phase 2 will consist of storm sewer and street construction between 13th Street and 21st Street. Greenwich will be closed to through traffic from March 1, 2006 until August 1, 2006. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.
-
Phase 3 will consist of storm sewer and street construction of southbound Greenwich between 21st Street and 27th Street. Two-way traffic will be maintained with intermittent flagging of traffic. Storm sewer and street construction between 13th and 21st Street may continue during this phase.
Phase 4 will consist of storm sewer and street construction of northbound Greenwich between 21st Street and 27th Street. Two-way traffic will be maintained with intermittent flagging of traffic. Storm sewer and street construction between 13th and 21st Street may continue during this phase.
