In light of the recent titanium fire that destroyed several downtown Wichita businesses, the Wichita Fire Department is reminding business owners to stress fire prevention training on the job.
Business owners are encouraged to call the Wichita Fire Department (268-4441) for assistance or training related to fire prevention.
Proper training is a key to fire prevention. Employees should know what to do in the event of a fire as well as how to evacuate a building and call 911.
Employees should also receive fire extinguisher training and know that fire extinguishers are used in the early stages of fire.
Most workplace fires can be prevented if employees follow fire safety practices. No matter how insignificant a fire may appear, any fire can be destructive and deadly.
