Second Sweep Continues - Get Limbs Curbside NOW

The second round of the limb clean-up has begun, and crews are progressing east and west from Hydraulic. This is the final round for the limb clean-up, so citizens need to get their limbs to the curb right away before this sweep if they want the City to pick them up. The City will not remove limbs from private property; they must be brought to the curb. Remember that if vehicles are parked in front of the limbs, they will not be picked up.

Citizens are also advised to clean up and dispose of all twigs and small limbs remaining after the first round. The City will not be picking up these small piles during the second round, as FEMA provides funding only for hazard removal, which does not include minor piles of twigs and small limbs. These smaller accumulations should be disposed of with citizens normal trash service.

Some arterial streets have not yet been cleaned up. This work has been limited to weekends, when traffic is lighter than weekdays. The lighter traffic on weekends is safer for the workers and traveling public. However, drivers should be cautious and aware that clean-up work may impact traffic flow while limbs are being cleaned up on these major streets. The remaining arterials will be cleared over the next few weekends.

Wichitans may continue to take tree limb debris from the January 4 ice storm FREE OF CHARGE to Brooks Landfill, located at 4100 N. West Street. It will be open through Saturday, MARCH 12 from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Citizens may also check the clean-up progress of the on the City of Wichita web site, www.wichita.gov where a map will illustrate the parts of the city already cleared of debris.
