The City of Wichita, SEIU Local 513 and IAFF Local 135 are pleased to announce that three-year tentative agreements have been reached covering wages, benefits and other conditions of employment. These tentative agreements call for wage increases of 3% for each year of the three-year agreements, increases in longevity pay, expanded substance abuse testing, formation of pay for performance committees and other minor language changes agreed to by the parties.
IAFF’s original three-year contract ended in December 2003, with contract negotiations starting in mid-year 2003. Negotiations have been ongoing since that time to finalize a tentative agreement that was amenable to both parties. SEIU’s original one-year contract ends in December of this year.
The agreements reflect months of negotiations and compromises and the parties will jointly request that these tentative agreements be formally approved by the City Council on Nov. 9.
