This October, Fire Investigator Darren Mullen, will be joining Lance Armstrong and the Bristol-Myers Squibb Tour of Hope Team of 20 cyclists as they ride across America in an inspirational week-long journey to raise awareness for cancer clinical trials.
Darren’s wife, Debra, died of breast cancer at age 35, the same disease that took her mother when Debra was just a little girl. Debra’s drive not to give up led her to embrace the opportunity to enroll in three different clinical trials. Debra told Darren on more than one occasion that even if the trial drugs did not work for her, that maybe they will help other women and moms like her in the future, She always added “That young mom may be their daughter Rebecca”.
So in Debra’s memory and for Rebecca’s future, Darren will ride as a member of the Bristol-Myers Squibb Tour of Hope Team to share his wife’s inspiring story and her commitment to cancer research. To learn more about this life-threatening disease, visit www.tourofhope.org.
