Today, the Wichita City Council selected George Kolb to serve as Wichita’s City Manager.
Kolb most recently served as the City Administrator for the consolidated government of the City of Augusta and Richmond County. During his four-year tenure there, he developed a visionary $320 million capital improvement program, created and implemented a successful Small Business Assistance Center and lead the daily operations of the second largest city in Georgia. Prior to his position in Augusta, he served in Richmond, Va., and in the Michigan cities of Albion, Jackson, and Saginaw.
Kolb is a graduate of the Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program. He received his Master’s of Public Administration degree from the University of Michigan and his undergraduate degree in marketing from Eastern Michigan University.
Kolb has received the International City/County Management (ICMA) Credentialed Manager designation. He is one of more than 550 local government management professionals worldwide to be credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program.
