The City of Wichita has entered into a contractual agreement to provide water to the City of Derby, beginning in October 2003. A seven-mile long, 36” waterline is being constructed along K-15, to provide this water service.
The portion of the project along K-15, from MacArthur to 63rd Street South, is complete and has been chlorinated. The chlorinated water must now be flushed from the line. Flushing will begin on Monday, March 31, using four outlets along the water line. The flushing will continue until the chlorine has been reduced to an acceptable level. This process may take from two days to two weeks. Testing will be done to ensure water quality.
Citizens may see water being released from the four outlets. Please be assured this is part of the flushing process to clear the water line. There will be no environmental impact due to the flushing.
