To make the most efficient and effective use of public utility facilities, Sedgwick County Commissioners are selling the County sewer facilities to the City of Wichita. Sedgwick County currently serves about 5,000 customers, while the City of Wichita serves about 118,000 sewer customers. This transfer of facilities will result in savings to the majority of customers through a combination of reduced special assessments, annual taxes and/or monthly charges.
Effective April 1, 2001, you will receive sewer service from the City of Wichita rather than from Sedgwick County. You should receive your first sewer bill from the City of Wichita in May 2001 and monthly thereafter.
To simplify bill payment, the City of Wichita offers automatic bank deductions for water and sewer charges. If you wish to participate in this program, select the option that will allow us to serve you best.
Any customer currently paying for City water with automatic bank deductions will have sewer charges deducted as well, unless the City is notified otherwise. To continue automatic deduction, you do not need to do anything.
Any customer currently paying for City water with automatic bank deductions who wants to stop payment by automatic deduction needs to notify the City, by telephone (265-1300) or in writing.
Any customer currently having automatic bank deductions for Sedgwick County sewer service, but not billed previously by the City of Wichita, should call the City at 265-1300.
Any customer wishing to initiate automatic bank deductions should call the City at 265-1300.
