Thousands of Wichita area residents are expected to attend a community gathering on Sunday, September 23, to remember the victims of the terrorist attacks on America and show unity for the nation.

From the Heart: In Solidarity with a Hurting Nation, will be held at 6:30 PM in the Century II Convention Hall. The event is being organized by InterFaith Ministries and a number of area congregations, with assistance from the City of Wichita.

The non-denominational event will feature religious leaders from the Muslim, Jewish, Ba Hai, Hindu, Buddhist, Native American and Christian faiths. Mayor Bob Knight is also planning to speak.

Hundreds of voices will join as one in Festival Community Choir. Dr. Cecil Riney of Friends University, Mark Clark of Kansas Newman University and Randy Christy are organizing the choir. A number of other Wichita musicians and performers are also being lined-up.

People attending the event will have the chance to giant cards of sympathy and support which will be sent to the people of New York City and Washington, DC.

People who like to be a part of the Festival Community Choir can attend a rehearsal on Tuesday, September 18, at 7 PM in the Friends University Fine Arts Building.
