Install 5-inch vinyl siding; install vinyl replacement windows. HPC2008-00119 1218 N Pearce. Demolish existing garage; construct new garage, siding profile to match house. Motion #2 made by Seiwert, 2nd by Ingle to approve the consent agenda. Motion carried unanimously (6-0). ITEM NO. 8 CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS APPLICATIONS A. MAJOR: (HPC2008-00125) APPLICANT: Friends University FOR: 518 S Hiram, 628 S Hiram, 644 S Hiram Applicant requests: (1) demolition of two houses at 518 S Hiram and 628 S Hiram; (2) demolition of carport at 644 S Hiram; (3) expand existing parking lot at 644 S Hiram. Motion #3 made by Churchman, 2nd Pulkkila by to find that the proposed demolition of 518 S Hiram and 628 S Hiram, as well as the expanded surface parking at 644 S Hiram does not encroach upon, damage or destroy the environs of the University Hall. Motion carried unanimously (6-0). B. MAJOR: (HPC2008-00135) (Aley House - Key Contributing structure, Park Place/Fairview NR Historic District) APPLICANT: Gerald L. Crawford FOR: 1505 N Fairview Applicant submits request to Revolving Loan Fund for Historic Properties for purpose of partial roof replacement, exterior painting and scraping, and repair/replacement of exterior wood trim. Motion #4 made by Ingle, 2nd by Seiwert to approve the application to the Revolving Loan Fund up to the maximum amount of $25,000 for rehabilitation at 1505 N Fairview with the condition that the administrative requirements of the loan will be fulfilled and roofing materials meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. Motion carried unanimously (6-0). C. MAJOR: (HPC2008-00139) APPLICANT: Brad Teeter, Spangenberg Phillips Architecture FOR: 1750 N Vassar Applicant proposes to construct new residence for college students (Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity). Three-level house with sleeping rooms, library and study rooms, kitchen and laundry facilities and a social area. Exterior to be brick veneer with cast stone sills and columns, limestone chimney, and aluminum clad windows. Motion #5 made by Seiwert, 2nd by Pulkkila to find that the proposed new construction of a student residence at 1750 N Vassar does not encroach upon, damage, or destroy the environs of Holyoke Cottage, Fairmount Cottage, or Fairmount Congregational Church. Motion carried unanimously (6-0). D. MAJOR: (HPC2008-00140) APPLICANT: City of Wichita, Planning Department, Office of Historic Preservation Applicant proposes amendments to Sections 2.12.1015, 2.12.1016, 2.12.1018, 2.12.1019, 2.12.1019.1, 2.12.1020, 2.12.1021, 2.12.1021.1, 2.12.1022, 2.12.1023, 2.12.1024, 2.12.1024.2, and 2.12.1025 of the Code of the City of Wichita, Kansas pertaining to Boards, Agencies and Commissions, and repeal of the originals of said sections. Joe Johnson, Wichita Downtown Development Corporation and Trista Curzydlo, Wichita Area Realtors Association participated in the discussion. Motion #6 made by Seiwert, 2nd by Ingle to insert proposed changes and table final review of the proposed amendments to Sections2.12.1015, 2.12.1016, 2.12.1018, 2.12.1019, 2.12.1019.1, 2.12.1020, 2.12.1021, 2.12.1021.1, 2.12.1022, 2.12.1023, 2.12.1024, 2.12.1024.2, and 2.12.1025 of Code of the City of Wichita, Kansas pertaining to Boards, Agencies and Commissions, and repeal of the originals of said sections until July 14, 2008. Motion carried unanimously (6-0). ITEM NO. 9 MISCELLANEOUS MATTERS 1. Re-dedication of Minisa Bridge on October 13. Board agreed to have October meeting at the Minisa Shelter House at 3 p.m. with the re-dedication ceremony to occur before.
