WICHITA HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD MINUTES 11 APRIL 2005 CITY HALL, 455 N. MAIN, 10TH FLOOR-MAPD CONFERENCE ROOM 3 P.M. The regular meeting of the Historic Preservation Board was held Friday April 11, 2005 at 3:00 P.M. in the Metropolitan Area Planning Department Conference Room, City hall, Tenth Floor, 455 N Main, Wichita Kansas. ITEM NO. 1 ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order and board members stated their names. MOTION #1: Motion made by Edgington and 2nd by Hiesterman to add HPC2005-66 to the Agenda. Motion carried unanimously (6-0) MOTION #9: Motion made by Hiesterman and 2nd by Edgington to approve siding as it is presented. Motion carried unanimously (5-1) Steiner abstained. MOTION #5: Motion by Edgington, 2nd by Willenberg that HPC2005-60 does not encroach, damage or destroy the environs of the Topeka/Emporia Historic District. Motion carried (6-0). 22. Applicant proposes to install Dutch lap vinyl siding profile to match existing. 23. MAJOR: (HPC2005-00063) Environs, Eaton Hotel, Wholesale Grocery & East Douglas HD APPLICANT: Spangenberg Phillips Architects FOR: 201 S. St. Francis Applicant proposes to rehabilitate structure into apartment units and is requesting demolition of 211 S. St. Francis to provide parking for the project. They are requesting to punch holes for windows and doors on the south and construct two covered parking garages. The board is also being asked to consider demolition of 211 S. St Francis, a cinder block building ca. 1945. MOTION #7: Motion by Steiner, 2nd by Edgington that the property does not encroach, damage or destroy the environs of the Eaton Hotel and to approve as presented. Amendment to the Motion by Johnson. MOTION #8: Motion by Johnson, died for the lack of 2nd. Original motion carried (5-1) Johnson opposed. ITEM NO. 8 MISCELLANEOUS MATTERS 1. 2005 Kansas Preservation Conference – The conference is May 5 – 7 in Topeka. Copy of brochure is in packets. 2. Funding for assistant position -Update on letters from George. 3.
