Advanced Plans Committee: 2003-4 Comprehensive Plan Update Summary of Meeting #1 7:30 am, June 25, 2003 Attendance Committee Members: Ron Marnell, John McKay, Kerry Coulter MAPD staff: Dave Barber, Nalini Johnson Other: Wes Galyon, Lynn Miller, M.S. Mitchell Discussion Summary 1. MAPD staff reviewed the four major elements of the January 2002 Wichita Land Use Guide Map and Sedgwick County Development Guide that need to be modified. Project time frames and methodologies were reviewed and discussed for each element. Frequency and dates of future Committee meetings were also reviewed. 2. The Committee suggested the following: ? The Advanced Plans Committee should meet once a week in order to stay current with the work done by staff. Thursday mornings at 7:30 a.m. were suggested as a good meeting time, dependent upon Planning Director availability. ? Regarding the functional land use classification element, staff will mail out on a weekly basis (as completed), the sector map sheets showing the "existing" and "staff proposed" land use classifications. This will allow the Committee a few days to review the proposed changes prior to the weekly Committee meetings. ? Regarding the small city growth area element, the Committee suggested that the Advanced Plans Committee sponsor meetings held in each of the four quadrants of Sedgwick County to receive input and comments from local stakeholders (in addition to the meetings planned by MAPD staff with small city officials). 3. The Committee wondered whether the MPO can designate or specify minimum design standards pertaining to urban arterials that cross several different municipal jurisdictions. Staff will enquire and report back on this matter. Meeting adjourned at 8:50am. Next meeting set for Thursday, July 3, 2003 at 7:30 am, Planning Director's Conference Room, 10th Floor City Hall.
