What: The Inaugural National Night Out Poster Contest sponsored by the Crime Prevention Office of the Wichita Police Department.
For Whom: All 4th and 5th grade students enrolled in any Wichita public or private school.
Theme: “Safe and Secure Community” What does a safe and secure community look like to you? The Wichita Police Department is committed to having a safe and secure community. So if you could design your own community, what would it be?
Prizes: All teachers will be automatically entered to win $500 worth of gift certificates to be used towards art supplies or books. The Grand Prize student winner will receive a $500 savings bond. Second and third place winners will also receive prizes yet to be determined. The top 50 posters will be shown at the NNO poster art show during the month of July. (Savings bond winners will be required to provide Social Security numbers.)
Poster Suggestions: Posters of police, fire, EMS and other government departments working with the community to make Wichita safe. Neighbors working with neighbors for a safe neighborhood. Positive neighborhood activities that encourage people to get to know each other and watch out for each other.
Materials & Size: Any drawing or painting materials or combination thereof (crayon, paint, pencil, etc.) on paper. Collage of magazines or newsprint is not permitted. Bold colors are encouraged. Posters may be submitted on either an 11”x17” or 12”x18” sheet of paper.
Deadline: Friday, May 2, 2008 5:00PM Mail/deliver to: Crime Prevention Office, Wichita Police Department 4th floor 455 N. Main 67202.
Important: Posters must be accompanied by a completed entry form securely attached the back of posters. (If entry form is unavailable, simply provide student’s name, complete address, telephone, school, grade, teacher name and summer telephone on a page attached to the back of the poster.)
