The mission of the Community Affairs Section is to assist in lowering the crime rate by educating the public on how to solve problems in their neighborhoods and to further police-community relations in the City of Wichita. The mission is pursued through a series of programs and activities conducted in the community that focuses on crime prevention techniques that are proactive and risk reduction orientated.

The crime prevention role is one of inducement, coordination and systematic service to members of the community in order to prevent and reduce crime and the fear of crime.
