The Advanced Plans Division of the Wichita-Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area Planning Department is responsible for long-range, land use planning initiatives, the monitoring and updating of the Comprehensive Plan and the creation of neighborhood revitalization plans. The Division also completes environmental reviews for Consolidated Plan projects and manages the annexation caseload for Wichita and the small cities in Sedgwick County. Related tasks include data gathering, Capital Improvement Program review, conducting community planning outreach initiatives, serving as census bureau liaison and providing technical support to various government agencies. Among its publications are the annual Development Trends report and the quarterly Metro Planning News newsletter.
