Fishing Ponds

There are currently 13 fishing ponds located in some of our City parks. Check the listing below for all fishing ponds.

Island Pond

  • 5 acres

  • largemouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish

  • operated by Wichita Park and Recreation

  • park your car in the lot west of building and walk approximately 200 yards northwest (the pond is behind a hill and can't be seen from the road)

  • catch-and-release and artificial lures only

North Pond

  • 23 acres

  • largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, walleye, and wipers

  • operated by Wichita Park and Recreation

  • park in parking lot located off Woodlawn (west side), north of the K-96 Bypass

  • numerous artificial reefs of concrete were placed in the bottom of the lake

Dillons Pond - (southwest corner of Central & Maize)

K-96 Lake - 3111 N. Grove

  • the only access to the lake is from New York St. off 21st St. N.

  • 35 acres

  • largemouth bass, bluegill, wiper, crappie, and channel catfish

  • this lake was first enrolled in the urban program in 2000

  • the lake is stocked approximately every two weeks with channel catfish - other species are reproducing naturally

  • 10 ADA fishing stations

  • 1 picnic table

  • 1 parking lot - 61 stalls (4 handicapped)

Meadows Park - 515 S. 119th St. W.

South Lakes Park - 2211 W. 47th St. S.

  • largest pond north of 55th St. S. - 17.72 acres, maximum depth 30 feet

  • largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, and black crappie

  • operated by Wichita Park and Recreation

  • this lake has extremely clear water - use small diameter fishing line to enhance your success

 

OJ Watson Park - 3055 S. Old Lawrence Rd.

  • 42 surface acres and maximum depth of 16 ft.

  • largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill, wipers, rainbow trout, crappie, grass carp, hybrid sunfish

  • operated by Wichita Park and Recreation

  • a daily fishing permit must be purchased at the park in addition to the state license

  • 1 fishing dock
