Charles "Goose" Doughty coached the Men’s and Women’s Tennis teams at Heights High School for fifteen years. During that time, he was also the Head Men’s Basketball Coach for seventeen years.

He then went on to Wichita West High School as the Head Coach for four years before he retired after 32 years with USD 259. He was also the head women's tennis coach for Friends University.

He is a long-time tennis activist, dedicated to increasing multicultural participation in tennis.
