The Emergency Home Repair Program provides financial assistance to quickly resolve an emergency situation affecting the health and/or safety of the recipient household. To qualify:

The structure must be within Wichita city limits and be owner-occupied.

Eligible household income must not exceed 50% of Median Area Family Income.

The maximum amount of assistance available is $5,000.
The assistance comes in the form of a zero percent (0%) interest forgiveable loan.
A mortgage will be placed on the property in the amount of assistance received. No payments are required as long as owner lives in the property. The loan will be forgiven after five years. The loan becomes due and payable if the owner ceases to live in the property before the five year period expires.
