The submission of a license application and the appropriate fee does not constitute approval of that application. When approved, the license will be mailed to your address on the application.
If your application for a license is denied for any reason, a notice of denial will be mailed to you. You must request a refund of the fees paid within 3 working days of receiving the notice of denial to have your monies refunded to you.

Dance Hall Any room, hall, floor, pavilion, building or part of a building used for the purpose of conducting a dance in the city. Any establishment open to the general public is required to have a dance hall license.

Dance or Outside Dance Any dance maintained and operated by a fraternal, social, school, church, etc., non-profit organization, which operates such dance merely incidental to its principal purpose and the general public IS NOT solicited or permitted.

Dance Sunday Any tavern licensee who has a current dance hall license and allows the establishment to be used once a month on Sunday from 6:00 p.m., to 10:00 p.m., to persons from the ages of 13 through 17, exclusively for dancing.

Dangerous Dog Registration Any person who wants to keep a dog deemed dangerous by the City of Wichita must microchip and register their dog.

Dangerous Exotic Animal Exhibitors Permit Any person who wants to exhibit, keep, maintain, control, harbor or possess dangerous exotic animals within the city limits of Wichita.

Directories Any person pursuing or carrying on the preparation or sale of, or compiling, preparing, or issuing city directories in the city.

Dog Breeder License Any person who owns, keeps or harbors a dog within the city limits of Wichita for breeding purposes is required to have a license.

Dog Rabies Vaccination and License Any person who owns, keeps or harbors a dog, 5 months or older, within the city limits of Wichita, for more than 10 days, is required to have a licensed veterinarian vaccinate the dog for rabies.

Domestic Animal Maintenance Any person keeping in his possession and control, within the corporate limits of the city, more than 5 fowl, 2 rabbits, 2 dogs, 2 cats, or 1 sheep, 1 goat, 1 horse, 1 cow, 1 ratite, or more than 2 domestic animals of another kind, is required to pay an annual fee for an appropriate classification permit. With limited exception, no more than 2 nanny goats, 12 rabbits, 12 fowl other than pigeons, 25 pigeons, 2 horses or other equines, 1 cow, 2 sheep, 2 ratites, 4 dogs, 4 cats or 2 domestic animals or other kind; OR no more than 3 different kinds of domestic animals shall be maintained on any one residentially zoned lot. With limited exception, roosters (male chickens), guinea cocks, peacocks or other birds that by nature exhibit loud calls, are not allowed within the corporate limits of the city.
Domestic animals means all animals that have been tamed or domesticated such as, but not limited to dogs, cats, cattle, horses, hogs, goats, rabbits, sheep, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, pigeons, and other fowl or wild mammals or birds.
Ratite means domesticated large flightless birds classified as livestock under Kansas law, such as ostriches and emus.
Kennel means any premises where there is being maintained a total of 5 or more dogs or more than 2 un-spayed female dogs for business purposes, except veterinary hospitals.
Cattery means any premises where there is being maintained a total of 5 or more cats or more than 2 unspayed female cats, except veterinary hospitals.
Kennel and Cattery do not include foster homes operated under the auspices of rescue organizations licensed by the Kansas Department of Animal Health.

Domino Table Any person engaged in the business of operating a domino table in the city.

Drinking Establishment
"Alcohol" means the product of distillation of any fermented liquid, whether rectified or diluted, whatever its origin, and includes synthetic ethyl alcohol but does not include denatured or wood alcohol.
"Alcoholic Liquor" means alcohol, spirits, wine, beer, and every liquid or solid, patented or not, containing alcohol, spirits, wine, or beer and capable of being consumed as a beverage by a human being, but shall not include any cereal malt beverage.
Drinking Establishment: Premises which may be open to the general public and alcoholic liquor is sold by the individual drink.
Drinking Establishment/Restaurant: An establishment which derives more than 30% of their gross receipts from the sale of food.
Drinking Establishment - Caterer: Combined categories of Drinking Establishment and Caterer, subject to all provisions of such categories.
Drinking Establishment - Entire Hotel: Entire premises is licensed as a drinking establishment.
Drinking Establishment - Hotel/Caterer: Combined categories of Drinking Establishment - Entire Hotel, Caterer and Drinking Establishment subject to all provisions of such categories.
Private Club Class B (Profit): Premises operated for profit by a corporation, partnership, or individual to which members of such club may resort for the consumption of food or alcoholic beverages and for entertainment.
Caterer: An Individual, partnership, or corporation which sells alcoholic liquor by the individual drink and provides services related to the serving thereof, on unlicensed premises which may be open to the public but does not include a holder of a temporary permit, selling alcoholic liquor in accordance with the terms of such permit.
Private Club Class A (Non-Profit): Premises which is owned or leased by a corporation, partnership, business trust, or association and which is operated thereby as a bona fide non-profit social, fraternal, or war veterans club, as determined by the director for the exclusive use of the corporate stockholders, partners, trust beneficiaries, or associates (hereinafter referred to as members), and their families and guests accompanying them.
Temporary Permit: This permit shall allow a permit holder to offer for sale, sell and serve alcoholic liquor for consumption on unlicensed premises, which may be open to the public, subject to the terms of such permit. (To be filed not less than seven days before event unless this requirement is waived for good cause). If the event is over 3 days, must apply for two separate permits.
